Out of this entire chapter, the phrase, "its own pure expression," stands out as the big idea for the chapter, if not the book. I liked the definition of the calculating self as it relates to the part of us born out of the "measurement world." The calculating self as a part of the whole is that part of us that is actually ill-prepared to be measured, compared, over-looked, disappointed, ignored etc. although society tries to convince us to the contrary.
I think the point of this chapter is more about deciding on the "who" we are as it relates to us, not so much as it relates to others. We ought to be guided by our own pure expression, the true essence of who we are. The game that was shared "The Best _______ Ever," is a very interesting exercise in defining what the "best" means to us individually in whatever context we decide to make it. This idea goes along with the previous chapters in terms of being self-aware and defining yourself.
